Olonzac is the “capital” village of the historic wine-producing area of the Minervois. It lies just below the foothills of the Montagne Noire to the north, with the Corbières hills and the Pyrenees to the south. The village has a lively market every Tuesday, one of the best in the area, and has several bars/cafés, restaurants, and shops. Wander through the narrow streets of the old village, walk through the vines and into the hills, or cycle along the banks of the Canal du Midi, just minutes away. Only half-an-hour in the car to the east takes you to the Roman town of Narbonne, and 10 minutes further to the beaches of the Mediterranean; 40 minutes to the west and you are in the medieval cité of Carcassonne.
